Vietnam: Exploring Mui Ne (Day 2)

_mg_5686

My second day in Mui Ne started very early. I hired a driver for the scooter to bring me to the white sand dunes. It is 30 km away from the resort I was staying. At exactly 5 am we left the resort. It was drizzling a bit but here I were again, hoping for a glam sunrise. Continue reading Vietnam: Exploring Mui Ne (Day 2)

Vietnam: Exploring Mui Ne (Day 1)

“Once upon a time, Mui Ne was an isolated stretch of beach where pioneering travellers camped on the sand. Times have changed and it’s now a string of beach resorts, which have fused into one long coastal strip. These resorts are, for the most part, mercifully low-rise and set amid pretty gardens by the sea. The original fishing village is still here, but tourists outnumber locals these days. Mui Ne is definitely moving upmarket, as more exclusive places open their doors, complemented by swish restaurants and swanky shops, but there is still a (kite) surfer vibe to the town.” – www.lonelyplanet.com

Postcard: Old Lady at the Floating Market

_mg_9208

This old lady was selling fresh young coconut. She was just staying in that corner to avoid the busy river with lot of boats, both tourists and vendors. I was at the other side of the riverbank. She suddenly caught my attention while I had my brunch. I grabbed my camera and zoomed the lens to capture this image. The moment I looked at her, I got mixed emotions. That kind of moment is the reason why sometimes I travelled solo. I want to see and feel the reality of life, those ordinary things. Honestly, at that very moment, I got teary eyed. I miss my mom!

It has been two decades since Vietnam was reunited; a remarkable progress has been done. Vietnam now is one of the stunning travel destinations in Asia.

To complete my ASEAN trip, I need to leave a footprint in this gracious and graceful country. I booked a flight thru Vietnam airlines and landed safely in Tan Son Nat International airport in Ho Chi Minh City. After doing the immigration thing, I looked for a telco store and got my Vietnamese sim card. I asked the store lady to set-up my 3G.
