Fireworks! Ignite Them and Let Them Shine!

♪♪♪♫♫♫’Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Aah, aah, aah”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make ’em go, “Aah, aah, aah”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe♪♪♪♫♫♫

Those are the few lines of Katy Perry’s Fireworks song. Watching on them bursting will put us in awe. Yes, they are magical. They steal the night sky from the stars and showcase their beauty. But their beauty fades quickly. So we’ll capture them in photos.

My first chance to do a fireworks photography was on Putrajaya (Malaysia) International Hot Air Balloon Festival in 2012. The fireworks displays ended the day. Capturing fireworks’ beauty is not an easy task. Yes, it is just a long exposure shot but in this situation, the subject is moving. And that’s the reason why fireworks photo is magical. Because of those shining and colorful firework tails that are caused by the moving subject contradicting the very slow shutter of the camera. I set my camera in bulb, ISO 100, custom white balance of 5600 and using remote control for the shutter.  _MG_1046
